24. August 2023A class of compact, lightweight and versatile DAC MV cable test systems
with withstand voltage test, PD analysis and PD localization
The “Damped Alternating Current” (DAC) test systems M30, M40 and M60 from ohv diagnostic form a
exceptionally compact, lightweight and versatile class of systems for testing and diagnosing
Medium-voltage transmission cables. They are programmable and have an automatic
Withstand voltage testing, partial discharge (PD) measurement and analysis as well as PD localization. The controls,
Measurement and presentation of results is user-friendly with the ohv Suite, the common
Software platform for the entire range of ohv diagnostic products.
A DAC cable test does not just provide a rudimentary “good/bad” statement, it is a
advanced analysis and diagnostic concept. It enables the condition of the cable insulation to be assessed
of newly installed, repaired or in-service cable systems and thus supports the asset management process.
Management of the cable operator. The measurement modes include:
▪ Withstand voltage test with operating voltage, but also above it,
▪ Partial discharge measurement, analysis and localization along complete cable systems.
The DAC voltage test and PD analysis enables the reliable detection of:
▪ Defects in the cable insulation due to installation or routing,
▪ Defects in the cable fittings, i.e. joints and terminations and
▪ Damage to the cable insulation due to ageing processes
